Without them, we would most likely be stressed, burnt out or frustrated. Instead, we are always looking for ways to better ourselves.
Altering the way you think has a huge impact on the way you run a business. It becomes less about selling product and more about creating lasting connections with customers, educating people on sustainable food and building a place where customers and staff feel valued.”
A family business of third-generation farmers, Steve & Dan’s is a well-loved source of B.C. fruit, berries, vegetables and juice at Alberta’s farmers’ markets.
After decades of feeding the local community, the team wanted to rethink their values and future goals, along with how they connect with their customers and community.
Over the course of six months, we helped Steve & Dan’s open up about their views on the organization, each other and themselves. Our conversations provided the team with the foundation to create three core values: community, sustainability and integrity.
Introducing the staff to the notions of perspective taking, seeking and active reflection, we taught them to actively encourage and integrate each team member’s point of view, while contemplating on and building their new values into their day-to-day work. Our teachings inspired the group to become catalyst leaders—team-oriented, open-minded individuals who nurture the success of their colleagues and customers.
With this renewed sense of purpose, Steve & Dan’s has revitalized relationships between their team and the community.
Now, they’re working even more closely with ambassadors, partners and farmers’ markets to connect Albertans to local, ethically sourced food.
